A reflection...
how have I used blog in education?
Problems that I face...
Time
How does one find time to update and upload anything? Or to type out things?
With the use of RSS feeds we certainly can read about the blogs fast enough... can we?
I'm not too sure.
How can I solve this?
As it is... I only blog ... once in a while.. when random thoughts come to mind...
Checking to ensure that all the students have participated
That's tough.. I think. For all the times I've gone into the lab, and the kids have blogged... there are a few who won't finish on time, and it doesn't get updated.
Something to remember and check on.
Benefits from blogs
Yet... blogs can bring many benefits...
1. It engages the children... it is after all, their medium of communication.
2. It certainly easier to mark in terms of copying and pasting them to a Word Document and checking their grammar.
3. It is a place for them to interact with one another... and a place for me to work with them, because I don't have time to see them otherwise.
-- A blog can be a place for me to continue tutoring them... if I can. :P
Eventually... I have to get used to it, if I decide to use it.
Time time... yes, no doubt. It is another preparation for me.
I hope... I will have time to do it.

Lessons learnt from ICT Diploma Course - Excel
Reflections of the EXCEL course...
:) Going through the course on EXCEL... some interesting functions that will help make life easier for us all! ;D
1. Grouping the worksheets
When you do that, you'll be able to type on 1 worksheet and it'll be found on ALL!
YES! Easy for entering headers, table headers and so on!
Especially for stockbooks, lists for classes. :)
2. Freezing the columns
TIP!! Go to the column NEXT to the one that you want to freeze!
If you are going for both column and row freeze, pick the cell next to it.
3. To split the screen for 1 WORKBOOK... Go to New Window! :D And arrange it!
4. To see the formula bar: go to View!
5. To save the files as a template.. NOTE when you save! Format = _______--.xlt
6. In hiding columns and rows: These will still be calculated! :D
-------------------------- ops.. have to go now.. lesson starting...
7. YOU can LINK cells in different worksheets and workbook! :) Just Paste Special! heh
(Remember to update links)
You can also do it via "Consolidate" .. remember to check the box ti update source links!
8.You can create a CUSTOM FILL.. ie, drag and autofill by going to TOOLS, OPTIONS, CUSTOMS LIST (tab)
There is also option to see or hide the comments... You can also edit your comments
--------------------------- got to continue w asg...

Something learnt, and some things to take note of!
1. To add links to blogs, you must do the link button
2. You can add tags.
3. You can moderate comments (under comments setting)
4. Under settings: listing? (No, if you dont want it to be public)
5. Under settings: Pings --> if yes, it means you want to send a message to the search engines to say that you are there...
6. (Still trying) You can add authors.. now.. how do they know???

Blog in NSS
As we begin our journey of blogging in Northland...
Questions to ask ourselves.. :)
1. How to get all the students to do it at home too? (not just in school)
2. How do I check all the posts the students upload?
3. Model English????? Singlish??? A place for sensible thoughts, or a place for venting and sharing of feelings?
